What Causes My Pain from Degenerative Disc Disease?

Both the inflammation and micromotion instability from degenerative disc disease can cause you to experience lower back or neck muscle pain and spasms. Numbness and tingling in the extremities are also very common symptoms, causing intense pain that radiates to your arms and hands, and weakness in your leg muscles. Periods of severe pain that come and go are common with degenerative disc disease, often lasting from a few days to a few months before improving. Sensations range from mild discomfort to severe, disabling pain that can affect your low back, buttocks, and thighs. Our commitment to the highest standards of care will enable us to use advanced innovative therapies that are designed to restore your health and quality of life while delivering superior outcomes.

How Will You Diagnose and Treat My Pain from Degenerative Disc Disease?

Do you suffer from pain that gets worse when bending, lifting or twisting? As we age, our discs dry out and don’t absorb shock quite as well as they used to. Daily activities and sports can also cause tears in the outer core of a disc. The simple fact is that by the age of 60, most people have some degree of disc degeneration. For some, this can result in low back pain or lower back injuries, which can cause swelling, soreness, and instability.

Dedicated to high quality, individualized pain management services for patients suffering from acute or chronic pain, the professionals at Florida Pain and Rehabilitation are degenerative disc disease authorities, led by Dr. YiLi Zhou, a Harvard-trained, board-certified pain specialist, and neurologist. We can diagnose your condition and help you with interventional pain management treatment for your degenerative disc disease. We will conduct a physical examination that includes postural assessment, movement assessment, and special tests to help identify the most likely cause of your low back pain. In some instances, we may order an MRI to help diagnose the underlying cause of your back or leg pain to identify the evidence of root compressions that cause spinal pain, limited spinal movement, limited motor function and muscle weakness, and a loss of touch and reflexes.

How Much Will it Cost to Treat My Pain from Degenerative Disc Disease in Ocala?

Degenerative disc disease needs to be treated properly as it can lead to increased pain if left uncared for, even leading to an inflammation of one of the membranes around your nervous system, or spinal stenosis resulting in the spaces between your vertebrae narrowing, resulting in weakness and chronic pain, and the inability to move properly.

At Florida Pain and Rehabilitation, we understand that each patient’s condition is unique, which is why we take the time to develop a personalized interventional pain management plan. As a result, your costs will vary based on your unique needs. During your consultation, we will provide you with the specific cost for your customized pain management plan.

We accept most major insurance providers, including the majority of workers’ compensation plans. We also welcome all standard forms of payment, in addition to offering convenient financing and payment plans to make pain management affordable for all of our patients. If you’re in pain, contact us now to set up your appointment, and as long as your insurance doesn’t require authorization from your primary care physician, we can offer you either same day or next day scheduling.
